A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's net: ravb driver could cause a NULL pointer dereference when querying the PTP clock index before the clock is registered. This occurs because the PTP clock is unavailable before the first open, and registration failures can leave an error pointer in priv->ptp.clock. The issue has been resolved by caching the PHC index separately, reporting -1 when no clock is registered, and normalizing registration errors to NULL while preserving static timestamping capabilities.
