A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's L2TP netlink handlers was resolved. The issue involved multicast notification errors being propagated as command results during tunnel and session create/modify operations. This could cause callers to mistakenly retry operations that had already succeeded, potentially leading to accumulation of live objects. The fix ensures notifications are still sent for listener visibility but their error status is no longer propagated as command results, maintaining consistency across notification paths.
