A heap out-of-bounds read vulnerability was identified and fixed in the Linux kernel's hp-bioscfg component for x86 platforms. The flaw occurs when writing an empty password string, causing an out-of-bounds read of one byte before the allocated buffer. This is due to improper length checking before accessing the buffer's last character. The issue does not crash the system but results in an invalid memory read flagged by KASAN. The fix ensures the buffer is only accessed when its length is nonzero. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 09/11/2026, 21:31:24 UTC Added: 09/12/2026, 00:43:20 UTC |
