A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ocfs2 filesystem was resolved by adding validation to directory-index entry counts when reading metadata. The flaw allowed out-of-bounds reads from a 4KB metadata block due to missing bounds checks on entry counts in indexed directories. This could be triggered by a crafted on-disk image and reached via common filesystem operations like path lookup, stat(), or open(). The fix adds strict validation to reject corrupted metadata before unsafe reads occur.
