A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's SUNRPC component related to Kerberos v2 wrap tokens has been resolved. The issue involves accepting tokens with an oversized 'extra count' (ec) field, which leads to a semantically invalid buffer state. This occurs because the buffer trimming logic does not properly reject tokens where the ec field exceeds the plaintext length, violating RFC 4121. The fix ensures such tokens are rejected early with a defined error, preventing inconsistent internal buffer states.
