A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's NFS server (nfsd) affects the handling of NFSACL v2 SETACL requests. The flaw causes the default ACL of a directory to be unintentionally removed when only the access ACL is set or when the mask is zero, due to unconditional calls to set_posix_acl() with NULL pointers. This behavior can lead to unintended ACL deletions. The issue has been addressed by gating calls to set_posix_acl() based on the request mask bits and initializing error handling to prevent accidental ACL removal.
