A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's nfsd_dispatch() function caused the rq_status_counter to remain odd on certain exit paths, exposing actively mutating fields to a lockless reader. This could lead to the reader accessing unstable data structures, potentially reading beyond array bounds. The issue has been resolved by ensuring the counter is restored to an even value on all exit paths after it is set odd.
