An off-by-one out-of-bounds read vulnerability was fixed in the Linux kernel's ucs2_strnlen() function located in lib/ucs2_string.c. The function previously checked the current character before verifying if the maximum length bound was reached, potentially reading one character beyond the intended limit if the input was not NUL-terminated within that bound. The patch corrects this by testing the length before dereferencing, preventing the out-of-bounds read. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 09/11/2026, 21:31:38 UTC Added: 09/12/2026, 00:42:34 UTC |
