A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's memory leak detection subsystem (kmemleak) could cause a soft lockup on hosts with many threads. The issue arises because the kmemleak_scan() function scans every task stack under a single RCU read lock without rescheduling, potentially causing the CPU to be stuck for extended periods. This has been resolved by modifying the scanning approach to walk tasks one at a time with rescheduling points between them, preventing the soft lockup condition.
