A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's IPv6 multicast routing code (ip6mr_cache_report) has been resolved. The flaw involves cloning a freed destination cache entry (dst) when processing multicast packets that miss a multicast forwarding cache (MFC) lookup, leading to potential memory corruption. The issue is fixed by removing the unsafe cloning and ensuring report packets do not hold a dst reference. This vulnerability has a high severity rating with a CVSS score of 7.8.
