A high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's OCFS2 filesystem was resolved by adding validation for inline extended attributes (xattrs) during inode block validation. The flaw allowed corrupted inline xattr metadata to be processed, potentially leading to out-of-bounds memory access and use-after-free errors. The patch ensures that xattr entry name and value bounds are checked early when reading inode blocks, preventing unsafe metadata walks by getxattr() or listxattr().
