A high-severity use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's HID subsystem was resolved. The issue occurs when hid_device_io_start() allows input reports to run concurrently with device probing. If the probe fails, driver resources are freed without properly excluding ongoing report callbacks, potentially causing use-after-free conditions. The fix involves synchronizing input and stopping input processing before cleaning up after a failed probe to prevent concurrent access to freed resources.
