A high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ChromeOS platform code (cros_ec_typec) allows out-of-bounds memory writes due to improper validation of USB Power Delivery (PD) capability counts. The vulnerability arises because the kernel copies partner PDOs from the EC response without verifying that the count fields do not exceed the fixed array size, potentially causing stack overflow. Although ChromeOS EC firmware currently caps these counts, the kernel lacked validation, which has now been addressed.
