A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's mac80211 WiFi subsystem was identified where the function ieee80211_invoke_fast_rx() improperly declared a per-invocation variable rx_result as static. This caused concurrent callers to share and overwrite the same instance, leading to incorrect packet processing. The issue was fixed by making rx_result an automatic variable to ensure each invocation maintains its own result. This vulnerability is tracked as CVE-2026-46152 and affects version 3.0 of the Linux kernel. Red Hat has issued security advisories providing patches for affected kernel packages. Systems must be updated and rebooted to apply the fix. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 05/28/2026, 12:30:30 UTC Added: 05/29/2026, 21:02:02 UTC |
