The issue arises because SMB2_LOCK adds granted byte-range locks to both the file lock list and the connection's lock list, but the removal of these entries during close and durable handle operations can occur under different spinlocks when SMB3 multichannel is used. This can lead to concurrent access of freed lock structures. The fix involves tracking the connection owning each lock entry and holding a reference to it while linked, ensuring proper locking during unlock, rollback, close, and durable preserve operations.
