CVE-2026-58227 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Erlang/OTP ssl application where the system fails to detect cycles in peer certificate chains during TLS or DTLS handshakes. This flaw allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to send a crafted certificate chain that causes uncontrolled recursion, exhausting memory and crashing the BEAM node. Both TLS/DTLS clients and servers processing peer certificate messages are affected. The issue impacts multiple OTP versions prior to specific patched releases.
