A memory corruption vulnerability in the Linux kernel's USB serial driver (mct_u232) was resolved. The issue involved the driver incorrectly overriding the maximum transfer size for a device with a 32-byte bulk-out endpoint that only accepts 16-byte packets, which could lead to slab corruption if a malicious device reports a smaller endpoint max packet size than expected. This vulnerability is addressed in updated Linux kernel packages. Users should apply the official patches and reboot to ensure the fixes take effect.
