A high-severity vulnerability (CVE-2026-63917) in the Linux kernel's IPv6 VTI (Virtual Tunnel Interface) implementation was resolved. The flaw involved improper handling of network namespaces during tunnel device link changes, causing stale entries and potential kernel memory corruption. This could be triggered by unprivileged users, leading to privilege escalation and system compromise. Multiple affected versions of the linux-aws kernel prior to specific 7.0.0 builds are vulnerable. A patch is available and should be applied to mitigate the issue.
