FFmpeg versions 3.4 through 8.1.2 contain an out-of-bounds write vulnerability in the vf_floodfill video filter. This vulnerability occurs when processing dynamically sized video streams with filtergraph reinitialization disabled, leading to heap memory corruption and potential process crashes. Depending on heap layout and process hardening, exploitation may allow code execution. A patch is available to address this issue.

An out-of-bounds write vulnerability exists in the vf_floodfill video filter of FFmpeg versions 3.4 through 8.1.2. The flaw is triggered when a dynamically sized video stream is processed with filtergraph reinitialization disabled, causing heap memory corruption. This memory corruption can lead to process crashes and, depending on the heap layout and system hardening, may enable attackers to execute arbitrary code within the affected process.
