A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's batman-adv component was resolved. The issue involved the function pskb_may_pull() reallocating the buffer behind an skb, requiring variables pointing to the old buffer to be reassigned to avoid use-after-free conditions. This vulnerability affects multiple specific versions of the linux-azure kernel.

The Linux kernel's batman-adv module had a vulnerability where the function pskb_may_pull(), called by batadv_bla_is_backbone_gw(), could reallocate the buffer behind an skb (socket buffer). Variables referencing the old buffer were not reassigned after this reallocation, leading to a use-after-free condition. This flaw was resolved by ensuring that the gateway address is reacquired after skb reallocations to prevent referencing freed memory.
