Description

A vulnerability in libsoup's WebSocket implementation using the permessage-deflate extension allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to cause an unbounded memory allocation leading to an Out-of-Memory (OOM) crash and Denial of Service (DoS). This occurs because the decompression loop does not enforce an upper limit on the output buffer size, and the decompressed size check is disabled by default for client connections. A security update addressing this issue is available from Red Hat for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.
