What to do

AI-suggested

Until a fix is available, avoid passing untrusted URLs to the fetch() function or implement application-level controls to validate and restrict URLs and content encoding. Monitor vendor advisories for updates on patches or official mitigations.

Description

A vulnerability in Node.js allows a Denial of Service (DoS) attack via resource exhaustion when using the fetch() function to retrieve content from an untrusted URL. The issue arises because fetch() always decodes Brotli encoding, which an attacker can exploit to exhaust memory and potentially cause process termination.
