A vulnerability in the MPLS Operation, Administration, and Maintenance (OAM) feature of Cisco NX-OS Software for Cisco Nexus 3000 Series Switches… (CVE-2026-76465)
Description
A critical vulnerability exists in the MPLS Operation, Administration, and Maintenance (OAM) feature of Cisco NX-OS Software for Cisco Nexus 3000 and 9000 Series Switches. It allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to send a crafted MPLS echo-request packet that could lead to arbitrary code execution with root privileges or cause a denial of service by crashing processes and reloading the device.

Technical Analysis
This vulnerability (CVE-2026-76465) arises from improper validation of MPLS echo-request packets in the MPLS OAM feature of Cisco NX-OS Software on Nexus 3000 and 9000 Series Switches. An attacker can exploit this by sending a specially crafted MPLS echo-request to an affected device's IP address, potentially executing arbitrary code with root privileges or causing process crashes that lead to device reloads and denial of service.
Potential Impact
Successful exploitation can result in full system compromise with root-level code execution or denial of service conditions due to process crashes and device reloads. The vulnerability is remotely exploitable without authentication, making it highly critical.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. No official fix or patch links are provided in the available data. Until a patch is available, monitor vendor communications for updates.
