Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-19244 affects the connect_mcp_servers function in the nanobot/agent/tools/mcp.py file of HKUDS nanobot up to version 0.2.1. The vulnerability arises from MCP resource and prompt wrappers being registered outside the intended enabledTools scope, leading to improper access control. This flaw allows remote attackers to manipulate access controls. The project addressed the issue by correcting the registration boundary, and upgrading to version 0.3.0 resolves the vulnerability. The exploit is publicly available, but no known exploitation in the wild has been reported.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability results in improper access controls, potentially allowing unauthorized remote access or manipulation within the affected component. The CVSS score of 4.7 indicates a low severity impact with limited confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact. No known active exploitation in the wild has been reported.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade HKUDS nanobot to version 0.3.0 or later, which includes the official fix correcting the registration boundary of MCP resource and prompt wrappers. This upgrade fully mitigates the vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are required.
