The vendor has internally acknowledged and tracked the issue. Users should monitor the vendor's Security Response Center for updates and apply any forthcoming official fixes. Until then, caution is advised when using affected versions, especially in untrusted network environments.
Description
A vulnerability was detected in Unitree Robotics Unitree Go2 up to 1.1.13/1.1.14.1/1.1.15.1. This affects the function WebSocketClient.connect of the file websocket.py of the component chat_go. Performing a manipulation results in improper certificate validation. The attack may be initiated remotely. The attack's complexity is rated as high. The exploitability is reported as difficult. The vendor confirmed early: "These issues were previously submitted by the researcher through our Security Response Center platform and are tracked internally as follows: Submission 990504 corresponds to our internal ticket #616 (Go2 chat_go WSS client disabled TLS server certificate validation, CWE-295)."
Impact
The vulnerability allows remote attackers to exploit improper TLS server certificate validation, potentially leading to limited integrity impact such as man-in-the-middle attacks or spoofing of the WebSocket server. Confidentiality and availability are not impacted according to the CVSS vector. The attack complexity is high, and exploitability is difficult, reducing the likelihood of widespread exploitation.
Summary
The vulnerability (CVE-2026-115996) affects the WebSocketClient.connect function in the websocket.py file of the chat_go component in Unitree Robotics Unitree Go2 firmware versions up to 1.1.13, 1.1.14.1, and 1.1.15.1. It results from improper TLS server certificate validation (CWE-287), allowing potential remote attackers to manipulate the connection. The vendor has internally tracked this issue as ticket #616 and confirmed the TLS server certificate validation is disabled in the WSS client. The CVSS v3.1 base score is 3.7, reflecting a medium severity with network attack vector, high attack complexity, no privileges required, no user interaction, and limited impact to integrity only.
