What to do
AI-suggested
Until a fix is available, restrict agent-level access to trusted users only and monitor for suspicious activity. Consider applying network-level controls to limit exposure of VICIdial interfaces. Follow updates from the vendor for official patches or mitigations.
Description
CVE-2024-8504 is a high-severity vulnerability in VICIdial that allows an attacker with authenticated 'agent' access to execute arbitrary shell commands as the root user. This vulnerability can be combined with CVE-2024-8503 to achieve command execution starting from an unauthenticated state. Public exploit code is available via Metasploit, increasing the risk of exploitation.
