AI-suggested

A patch is available in Authlib version 3.1.0 that enforces a fail-closed behavior by returning `False` when an unsupported algorithm is encountered during hash verification. Users should upgrade to Authlib 3.1.0 or later to remediate this vulnerability. Until upgraded, there is no recommended workaround as the flaw is inherent in the library's verification logic.

Description

A critical vulnerability in the Authlib Python library's OpenID Connect (OIDC) ID Token validation allows bypass of mandatory integrity checks. The internal hash verification function incorrectly returns success when encountering unsupported cryptographic algorithms, enabling attackers to substitute tokens without proper verification. This violates OIDC and JWT specifications requiring strict validation of access token and authorization code hashes. The flaw affects Authlib versions from 2.12.3 up to but not including 3.1.0 and has been fixed in version 3.1.0.
