AI-suggested

A fix is available in authlib versions after 1.5.2. Users should upgrade to a fixed version to eliminate the fallback to the 'jwk' header for key verification. Developers should avoid passing key=None to deserialization functions and ensure their key resolver callables never return None without proper handling. Follow the vendor advisory and update to patched versions promptly.

Description

Authlib's JWS implementation contains a JWK header injection vulnerability (CVE-2026-27962) that allows an attacker to forge JWT tokens that pass signature verification. When the deserialization function is called with key=None or when a key resolver returns None, the library uses the attacker-controlled 'jwk' header as the verification key, violating RFC 7515. This enables authentication and authorization bypass by accepting forged tokens with arbitrary claims.
