AI-suggested
The vulnerability arises because the extension does not enforce the existing allowlist or implement recommended controls from RFC 9101. Mitigation requires integrators to override the get_request_object() method to implement strict validation of the request_uri parameter, including enforcing client and server allowlists, validating response media type, implementing timeouts, and preventing recursive fetches. Deployments should not use the documented example implementation that performs an unrestricted HTTP GET. Monitor vendor advisories for official fixes.
Description
Authlib's implementation of the RFC 9101 JWT-secured authorization request (JAR) extension allows an unauthenticated Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) due to unvalidated use of the request_uri parameter. The extension passes the attacker-controlled request_uri directly to a fetch hook without enforcing the existing allowlist or other recommended controls, enabling SSRF at a pre-authentication endpoint. This affects Authlib version 1.7.2 and the current main branch.
