AI-suggested

Apply the official fixes by upgrading containerd to version 1.7.35, 2.0.12, 2.2.8, or 2.3.5 or later. Since patch availability is confirmed, remediation should focus on updating to these fixed versions to eliminate the vulnerability.

Description

A vulnerability in containerd prior to versions 1.7.35, 2.0.12, 2.2.8, and 2.3.5 allows a malicious container image layer to trigger repeated directory traversals during processing of opaque whiteouts. This can cause excessive CPU usage, delay container startup, and reduce image-pull concurrency for unrelated deployments. The issue is fixed in the specified versions.
