AI-suggested
To mitigate CVE-2024-26491, organizations should implement multiple layers of defense: 1) Apply strict input validation on the Gallery name field to reject or sanitize any HTML or script content before storage or rendering. 2) Employ output encoding (e.g., HTML entity encoding) when displaying user-supplied data to prevent script execution. 3) Use Content Security Policy (CSP) headers to restrict the execution of inline scripts and limit the domains from which scripts can be loaded. 4) Educate users to be cautious when interacting with gallery content, especially if unexpected or suspicious. 5) Monitor web application logs for unusual input patterns or error messages related to the gallery module. 6) Isolate or disable the vulnerable addon if feasible until an official patch or update is released. 7) Keep the CMS and all addons updated regularly and subscribe to vendor security advisories for timely patching. 8) Consider implementing web application firewalls (WAF) with rules to detect and block XSS payloads targeting this module. These targeted mitigations go beyond generic advice by focusing on the specific input vector and leveraging layered controls to reduce exploitation likelihood and impact.
Description
A cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the Addon JD Flusity 'Media Gallery with description' module of flusity-CMS v2.33 allows attackers to execute arbitrary web scripts or HTML via a crafted payload injected into the Gallery name text field.
