AI-suggested

To mitigate CVE-2024-27561, organizations should immediately restrict or disable the installUpdateThemePluginAction functionality if possible until a vendor patch is released. Implement strict input validation and sanitization on the installThemePlugin parameter to ensure only trusted, whitelisted URLs or local resources are accepted. Employ network-level controls such as egress filtering and firewall rules to prevent the CMS server from making arbitrary outbound HTTP requests, especially to internal IP ranges or sensitive endpoints. Use web application firewalls (WAFs) to detect and block suspicious SSRF patterns in HTTP requests. Monitor server logs and network traffic for unusual outbound connections originating from the CMS server. If feasible, isolate the CMS server in a segmented network zone with minimal access to internal resources. Stay updated with WonderCMS vendor advisories and apply official patches promptly once available. Conduct regular security assessments and penetration tests focusing on SSRF and related vulnerabilities in web applications.

Description

A Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) in the installUpdateThemePluginAction function of WonderCMS v3.1.3 allows attackers to force the application to make arbitrary requests via injection of crafted URLs into the installThemePlugin parameter.
