Until a fix is available, consider limiting exposure of vulnerable Envoy instances to untrusted networks and monitor for unusual crashes related to HTTP/3 or QUIC traffic patterns matching the described attack sequence.

Description

CVE-2024-34362 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Envoy proxy's HttpConnectionManager component when used with EnvoyQuicServerStream. This flaw can cause Envoy to crash when an attacker sends a specific sequence of network frames involving a request without FIN, a RESET_STREAM frame, and then closes the connection after receiving a response. The vulnerability affects multiple versions of Envoy up to 1.30.1.
