A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. Users should upgrade to linux-azure kernel versions 6.8.0-35.35 or later, or the fixed 4.11.0 and 4.13.0 builds as specified by the vendor. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official fix.
Description
CVE-2024-35799 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's drm/amd/display component where disabling a stream encoder calls a function that no longer exists, causing a crash. This issue has been resolved by adding a check for a NULL function declaration before disabling the stream encoder. The vulnerability can lead to a denial of service by crashing the system. A fix is available and has been incorporated in Linux kernel versions 6.8.0-35.35 and later, as well as specific 4.11.0 and 4.13.0 builds. The CVSS score is 6.2 (medium severity) with no known exploits in the wild.
