AI-suggested

  1. Apply any official patches or updates from NetBox maintainers as soon as they become available.
  2. Until a patch is released, implement strict input validation and output encoding on the Name parameter at /dcim/console-server-ports/add/ to neutralize malicious payloads.
  3. Employ Content Security Policy (CSP) headers to restrict the execution of unauthorized scripts in browsers.
  4. Limit access to the vulnerable endpoint to trusted users and networks, using network segmentation and access controls.
  5. Educate users about the risks of clicking untrusted links or visiting suspicious pages, as exploitation requires user interaction.
  6. Monitor logs for unusual activity or attempts to inject scripts via the Name parameter.
  7. Consider deploying web application firewalls (WAFs) with rules to detect and block XSS payloads targeting this endpoint.
  8. Review and harden overall web application security practices to reduce the attack surface.

Description

A cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in netbox v4.0.3 allows attackers to execute arbitrary web scripts or HTML via a crafted payload injected into the Name parameter at /dcim/console-server-ports/add/.
