Description
CVE-2024-40902 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's JFS file system related to extended attributes (xattr). The flaw involves a buffer overflow caused by printing invalid xattr data larger than expected to the kernel log, which can lead to an out-of-bounds read. This vulnerability can be exploited locally to cause a denial of service (system crash). A fix has been released that properly restricts the size of the debug hex dump to prevent buffer overflow.
