What to do
AI-suggested
To mitigate CVE-2024-41239, organizations should implement strict input validation and output encoding on the "class_name" parameter to neutralize malicious scripts. Employing a web application firewall (WAF) with rules targeting XSS payloads can provide an additional layer of defense. Restrict user privileges to the minimum necessary, ensuring that only trusted users can submit or modify class names. Conduct regular security audits and code reviews focusing on input handling and sanitization. Monitor logs and user activity for unusual behavior indicative of exploitation attempts. If possible, isolate the vulnerable component or restrict access to it until a vendor patch is released. Educate users about the risks of clicking on suspicious links or content within the system. Finally, maintain timely backups to enable recovery in case of data manipulation or defacement.
Description
A Stored Cross Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability was found in "/smsa/add_class_submit.php" in Responsive School Management System v3.2.0, which allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via "class_name" parameter field.
