What to do

AI-suggested

To mitigate CVE-2024-42774, organizations should immediately restrict access to the /admin/delete_room.php endpoint by implementing strong authentication and authorization mechanisms, ensuring only legitimate administrators can perform deletion operations. Network-level controls such as IP whitelisting or VPN access for administrative interfaces can reduce exposure. If a patch becomes available, it should be applied promptly. In the absence of a patch, deploying web application firewalls (WAFs) with rules to detect and block unauthorized delete requests can provide temporary protection. Regularly auditing logs for unusual deletion activity and implementing alerting mechanisms will help detect exploitation attempts early. Additionally, segregating administrative functions from public-facing services and enforcing the principle of least privilege within the application will reduce risk. Backup and recovery procedures should be reviewed and tested to ensure rapid restoration of deleted data if an attack occurs.

Description

An Incorrect Access Control vulnerability was found in /admin/delete_room.php in Kashipara Hotel Management System v1.0, which allows an unauthenticated attacker to delete valid hotel room entries in the administrator section.
