What to do
AI-suggested
To mitigate CVE-2024-42775, organizations should immediately restrict access to the /admin/add_room_controller.php endpoint by implementing robust authentication and authorization mechanisms. This includes enforcing strong user authentication (e.g., multi-factor authentication) for all administrative interfaces and validating user roles before allowing access to sensitive functions. Network-level controls such as IP whitelisting or VPN access for administrative portals can further reduce exposure. Conduct thorough code reviews and penetration testing to identify and remediate similar access control issues in other parts of the application. Monitor web server logs and application activity for unusual or unauthorized access attempts to the admin endpoints. If a patch becomes available from the vendor, prioritize its deployment. As a temporary measure, consider disabling the vulnerable functionality if feasible. Additionally, educate staff about the risks of exposing administrative URLs and ensure secure development lifecycle practices to prevent recurrence.
Description
An Incorrect Access Control vulnerability was found in /admin/add_room_controller.php in Kashipara Hotel Management System v1.0, which allows an unauthenticated attacker to add the valid hotel room entries in the administrator section via the direct URL access.
