Description
CVE-2024-4467 is a high-severity vulnerability in the QEMU disk image utility (qemu-img) 'info' command. It involves an out-of-bounds write triggered by a specially crafted image file containing a JSON value describing block devices in QMP. This flaw can cause the qemu-img process on the host to consume excessive memory or CPU resources, potentially leading to denial of service or unauthorized read/write access to an existing external file. A security update addressing this issue is available from Red Hat for affected versions.
