A fix for this vulnerability is available and has been applied in updated Linux kernel versions. Users should upgrade to patched kernel releases to resolve the Tx FIFO corruption issue. No additional mitigations are indicated beyond applying the official fix.
Description
CVE-2024-44951 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's serial driver for the sc16is7xx device. It causes transmission (Tx) FIFO corruption when packets received on one channel are incorrectly transmitted on another channel due to a regression introduced by a prior commit changing lock granularity. This flaw leads to data corruption between channels in the serial interface.
