What to do

AI-suggested

Until a fix is applied, administrators should consider restricting the use of the remap_file_pages syscall and the READ_IMPLIES_EXEC personality flag where possible. Monitoring for kernel updates addressing this issue is recommended.

Description

CVE-2024-47745 is a Linux kernel vulnerability where the remap_file_pages syscall handler fails to invoke the security_mmap_file() LSM hook, allowing a process with the READ_IMPLIES_EXEC personality flag to remap pages with read-write-execute (RWX) permissions. This bypasses W^X policies enforced by SELinux, potentially enabling unauthorized executable memory mappings.
