What to do

AI-suggested

The vulnerability has been resolved in the Linux kernel by modifying the interrupt handling code to call chained_irq_enter() and chained_irq_exit() outside the loop, ensuring proper interrupt servicing. No specific patch links are provided in the input, so users should apply the latest Linux kernel updates that include this fix. Since this is not a cloud service, users must update their kernel to a fixed version when available. Patch status is not explicitly confirmed in the input; check the vendor or kernel mailing list advisories for the official fixed versions and updates.

Description

CVE-2024-50196 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's pinctrl driver for ocelot hardware that can cause a system hang. The issue arises when level-based GPIO interrupts are handled incorrectly due to the parent interrupt controller being configured for edge mode. This mismatch can lead to the parent interrupt remaining pending while the GPIO interrupt is cleared, preventing the proper interrupt handling functions from being called and causing the system to hang.
