What to do

AI-suggested

A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to assign dh_key to NULL after kfree_sensitive on error paths, preventing double free issues. Users should update to the fixed kernel version once available. Since no explicit patch links or fixed versions are provided in the data, check the official Linux kernel advisories or vendor updates for the patched kernel release containing this fix.

Description

CVE-2024-50215 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's nvmet-auth component. It involves improper handling of the dh_key pointer, which may lead to a double free condition. The flaw occurs because ctrl->dh_key might be reused across multiple calls without being nullified after being freed, potentially causing a double free in nvmet_destroy_auth(). This issue has been identified and fixed by assigning dh_key to NULL after kfree_sensitive to prevent reuse.
