A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel by clearing the wdev->cqm_config pointer when freeing it during device unregistration. Users and administrators should apply the official Linux kernel updates that include this fix to mitigate the risk.
Description
CVE-2024-50235 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's wifi cfg80211 component. It involves a double-free issue caused by not clearing the wdev->cqm_config pointer when freeing it during device unregistration. This can lead to memory corruption if the same wireless device is re-registered and destroyed again in another network namespace.
