What to do

AI-suggested

A fix for this vulnerability is available in the Linux kernel. Users should update to a kernel version that includes the patch for CVE-2024-50252.

Description

CVE-2024-50252 addresses a memory leak vulnerability in the Linux kernel's mlxsw driver related to the spectrum_ipip module. The issue occurs when changing the remote IPv6 address of an ip6gre network device, where the new address is not properly added to the driver's hash table and the old address is not removed, causing a memory leak and kernel warnings. This flaw has been fixed by ensuring the new address is programmed and the old one removed during configuration changes.
