A fix for this vulnerability is available in the Linux kernel. Users and administrators should update to a kernel version that includes this patch. Since no vendor advisory or patch links are provided, verify with the Linux kernel official sources or distributions for the fixed kernel versions and apply updates accordingly.

Description

CVE-2024-50255 is a null pointer dereference vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Bluetooth subsystem, specifically in the hci_read_supported_codecs function. The flaw occurs because the function __hci_cmd_sync_sk() can return NULL for unknown opcodes, leading to a null pointer dereference when handling the HCI_OP_READ_LOCAL_CODECS command. This issue has been fixed by ensuring __hci_cmd_sync_sk() does not return NULL for unknown opcodes.
