CVE-2024-50255 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Bluetooth subsystem where a null pointer dereference occurs in the hci_read_supported_codecs function. This happens because the function __hci_cmd_sync_sk() improperly returns NULL for unknown opcodes, leading to a null pointer dereference when handling the HCI_OP_READ_LOCAL_CODECS command. The issue has been fixed by ensuring __hci_cmd_sync_sk() does not return NULL for unknown opcodes.
