What to do

AI-suggested

A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to address this memory leak by changing the error handling logic. Users should apply the official kernel updates that include this fix once available. Patch status is not explicitly confirmed in the provided data; check the Linux kernel advisories for the specific fixed version.

Description

CVE-2024-56712 is a low-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's udmabuf driver that causes a memory leak when the dma_buf_fd() call fails due to a full file descriptor table. The issue arises because the error handling does not properly release a dma_buf object, leaving a dangling pointer and leaked memory. This flaw does not impact confidentiality, integrity, or cause a crash, only leading to resource leakage.
