Published: Wed Jul 10 2024 (07/10/2024, 02:02:47 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Houzez
Product: Houzez CRM

Description

The Houzez CRM plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to time-based SQL Injection via the notes ‘belong_to’ parameter in all versions up to, and including, 1.4.2 due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Custom-level (seller) access and above, to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database.

Technical Analysis

The Houzez CRM plugin for WordPress suffers from a time-based SQL Injection vulnerability due to improper neutralization of special elements in the 'belong_to' parameter used in SQL commands. Authenticated attackers with Custom-level or higher privileges can exploit this flaw to append malicious SQL queries, potentially exposing sensitive data stored in the database. The vulnerability affects all versions up to and including 1.4.2. The CVSS 3.1 score is 8.8, indicating high severity with network attack vector, low attack complexity, and requiring privileges but no user interaction.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an authenticated user with Custom-level access or above to execute arbitrary SQL queries on the backend database. This can lead to unauthorized disclosure of sensitive information, full compromise of data confidentiality, integrity, and availability within the affected Houzez CRM plugin environment.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed as no official patch or vendor advisory is available. Users should monitor the Houzez vendor channels for updates and apply any forthcoming official fixes promptly. Until a patch is released, restrict access to users with Custom-level or higher privileges and consider disabling the vulnerable plugin if feasible to reduce risk.
